Appenninia Civago
Reggio Emilia Apennines, Appenninia Civago
The Appenninia ski resort is on the northern side of Mount Giovarello, in the Dolo Valley, on the road to the Radici Pass, near the village of Civago, "a picturesque village in a beautiful basin surrounded by woods”; a traditional tourist resort which has become the starting point of walks and hikes in the Parco Nazionale dell'Appennino Tosco Emiliano. The resort is near the hamlet Ca' dl'Abat (Abbots house) at 1125 m asl; built in 1967 it is small sized and eco-friendly: there is a 'baby' tow and two ski lifts that go up to 1650 m asl; the runs unfold along the northern side through beech woods and mountain pastures with a splendid view over neighbouring valleys, from Mount Cusna, to Pietra di Bismantova and Mount Cimone. Over the last few years this resort, unique example in the province (and probably in the region) has been managed directly by the Sci Club Lupi which holds the majority of shares in the Consorzio di Valorizzazione di Civago, owner of the lift systems. The characteristics of the runs and the particular management make this resort ideal for sports groups and for all ski lovers who prefer to avoid the “waiting time” of modern but busy lift systems of famous ski resorts.
