The changing landscape which unfolds through amazing sandstone sculptures and natural creative delights accompanies visitors in their discovery of this territory which, from the mountain ridges to the Po Delta, is characterised by a rich variety of sceneries. The territory also offers educational structures, activities and programmes as well as documentation and information on the protected areas.
Delta del Po

A park created by water. An ideal habitat especially for birds.
Parco Tosco-Emiliano
Nature and history stretching from the Po Plain to the Ligurian Sea, beautiful mountains with incredible botanical varieties set in a park of 23,416 hectares between Emilia and Tuscany.
Parco dei Laghi
This park is located in a wonderful position with two large artificial reservoirs created in the last century, the splendid lakes of Suviana and Brasimone.
Parco dei Gessi
Great dolines, blind valleys and caves of Messinian gypsum: all just a short way away from Bologna. This is the largest karst park of the region with changeable landscape created by crystalline gypsum outcrops and badlands.
Monteveglio
A mosaic of wood covered mountains, small valleys and grey badlands create a pleasant hilly landscape around the millenary parish church and the remains of the famous castle.
Mount Sole
Mount Sole (826 m) and its park are part of a small chain in the province of Bologna between the Reno River and the Setta stream.

Foreste Casentinesi
Millenary forests that stand between Romagna and Tuscany: a unique heritage of forests in Italy which feature many valuable species of flora and fauna, including predators such as wolves and the royal eagle and many species of ungulates.
Modena Apennines
The park protects the entire ridge of the Apennines in the province of Modena which culminates in Mount Cimone (2,615 m), the highest peak of the Northern Apennines.
Sassi di Roccamalatina
The park covers about 1,119 hectares stretching from the Panaro River valley floor up the right bank of the river safeguarding the hills that frame the Sassi, imposing sandstone rocks with vertical walls where peregrine falcons nest.
Stirone
The Parco Fluviale Regionale dello Stirone has great palaeontological value thanks to the erosive action of the Stirone stream which, following large gravel excavations, has brought to light fossils of great scientific importance.
Boschi di Carrega
The Parco Regionale dei Boschi di Carrega was the first park to be created in Emilia Romagna to protect a rare example of foothill woods. The park extends over fluvial terraces between the Taro and Baganza Rivers and is characterised by woods, hedges, meadows and artificial lakes.
Taro
The Parco Fluviale Regionale del Taro is of great ornithological interest. There are more than 270 bird species including the Stone Curlew. This crepuscular bird, symbol of this park, likes large semi-natural spaces almost free from vegetation.
100 Laghi
This park, important for the presence of the royal eagle, is located between the Cedra and Parma valleys; signs of the last two glaciations, in particular the wurmian one can still be seen here.
Vena del Gesso Romagnola

From the Sillaro valley up to Brisighella the hills of Romagna are marked by a spectacular silvery grey gypsum chain which abruptly interrupts the gentle rolling hills creating a unique landscape.
